Penny Wars
From April 1st - April 29th students were encouraged to bring in any loose change to participate in Steckel Elementary’s Penny Wars. All proceeds will go towards Whitehlall High School’s Mini Thon which raises funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer.

Spring Book Fair/PTO PLUS
Our supportive PTO PLUS is sponsoring Steckel’s Spring Book Fair May 12. Students had the opportunity to visit the book fair with their classes and visit the gym during Open House.

Music Department News
The Steckel Stars Singers are practicing once a week in preparation for our Spring Concert on May 24. We have approx 125 students in the 3rd Grade Chorus and 160 in the 2nd grade chorus!

SWPBS March Celebration
Our Steckel Stars were treated to a Bingo Celebration for their March school-wide positive behavior reward! Thank you to Samantha Solomon and her SWPBS team for working their magic to create this great celebration for our students!

2022 Best Communities for Music Education Award
The 2022 Best Communities for Music Education program has recognized Whitehall-Coplay School District for the “outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders and their support for music education as part of a well-rounded education for all children.”

Our students here at Steckel celebrated Read Across America week with special days such as Hat Day, Wear Green Day, Wacky Day, Fuzzy Day and Pajama Day!

PTO Plus has also organized a Spring fundraiser with Cherrydale Fundraiser. Students can earn awards from PrizeGlow and Kung Fu Coops collectibles.

Soup’er Bowl
Steckel Elementary has a Faculty, Staff and student canned food drive with a Super Bowl theme. Canned goods were brought into school and placed in either the Los Angeles Rams box or the Cincinnati Bengals box.

Steckel STARS Celebration
Our Steckel STARS enjoyed their second marking period school-wide positive behavior system reward/celebration on Friday, January 28th. Our STARS enjoyed a Bingo Celebration with our very own Samantha Solomon!

Classroom Spotlight
Miss Lepore’s 3rd grade class has been busy learning all about endangered animals. The class took a special interest in manatees. They decided that they wanted to do something to help these endangered, gentle giants.

Ironpigs visit Steckel!
The IronPigs have started a new program where they bring out their mascot to schools on a Friday to spread cheer. Steckel Elementary was the 1st school of 2022 where Ferrous (the mascot) came to visit on Friday 2/11/22 as a surprise treat for the students.

SWPBS Reward for 2nd Marking Period

Our gratitude is extended to the WCSD PTO Plus for making December special for our Steckel students. PTO PLUS held their annual Lil’ Shopper’s Shoppe from 12/14/-12/17, as well as, 12/20.

Steckel Holiday in Song
Steckel Elementary classes had a wonderful time at the direction of Mrs. Huie in singing Holiday songs for the annual “Holiday in Song” program. Students were able to watch the program in their classrooms and Mrs. Snyder shared it with parents through Swift and Facebook.

Steckel Knows It Is Better To Give than Receive
In the month of December the staff at Steckel Elementary spread cheer to families in need by donating gift cards. We were able to provide each of our families in need with some holiday cheer.
